What is PAT? (Portable Appliance Testing)
It is the regular testing of any electrical appliance connected to the power supply by means of a plug and socket.
Why do I need it?
To comply with Health & Safety at Work Act 1974, Electricity at Work regulations and The Provision and Use of Work
Equipment Regualtions.
Who does it effect?
It places an obligation for all portable applainces used by employees, customers and tenants in places such as shops,
offices, rented property etc to be tested.
How often does it need to be carried out?
This depends on the type of equipment, its use and the environment in which it is used. We follow the Code of Practice
for In-Service Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment produced by the Institution of Electrical Engineers in conjunction
with guidance provided by the Health and Safety Executive.
